Nuvio TV local config servers are still open to cross-origin writes; fix PR #4428 unmerged

A report on Nuvio TV's five local config servers (poster pattern, stream badges, addons, repositories, debrid formatter) showed they accept cross-origin POSTs, so any web page you open while a config screen is live can rewrite those settings, and one oversized Content-Length header crashes the app. The reporter's issue was auto-closed unlabelled, but PR #4428 (Host/Origin checks, 2 MB body cap) is open and mergeable, not yet merged.

Why it matters: Close the TV's web config screens when you're not using them, and don't browse on the same LAN while one is open - the addon config endpoint also echoes back addon URLs that carry debrid tokens.

Verdict: watch

Source: GitHub (NuvioMedia/NuvioTV)

Nuvio TV 1.1.0-beta.11: addon stream variants now survive autoplay, plus a fix for /reuse links

The newest 1.1.0 beta keeps plugin stream variants intact through binge-group autoplay, groups stream cards under plugin provider headings, and fixes stream info on /reuse links. It also adds mark-as-watched in the continue watching menu and fixes focus restoration in Add-ons and Plugins settings.

Why it matters: If you run AIOStreams as a Nuvio plugin, the variant-preservation fix means autoplay should stop dropping your chosen provider variant between episodes.

Verdict: worth trying

Source: GitHub (NuvioMedia/NuvioTV)

Nuvio TV 1.1.0-beta.10: anime episode remapping between addon and TMDB numbering

Beta 10 remaps anime episodes between addon numbering and TMDB numbering and keeps the addon tab focus on the selected chip, so anime seasons line up with what your metadata addon reports. It also adds an LFE level option for FFmpeg downmix, night mode for audio playback, Cantonese subtitle mapping into Chinese, and a Wi-Fi/Ethernet indicator when a VPN is active.

Why it matters: This is the fix that matters if your AIOMetadata anime catalogs and your stream addon disagree on episode numbers, which is a common cause of wrong-episode playback.

Verdict: watch

Source: GitHub (NuvioMedia/NuvioTV)

It is still beta-only, with no new stable build since 0.4.21 in September.

Why it matters: Relevant for your iPhone and iPad, but the stable channel has not moved since September, so treat this as a test build rather than a daily driver.

Verdict: watch

Source: GitHub (NuvioMedia/NuvioMobile)

It also ports the subtitle font, shadow and style panel to the mpv player and fixes Flatpak Java preference persistence on Linux.

Why it matters: Worth a look if you ever watch Nuvio on a Linux desktop, since the Flatpak fix and mpv subtitle styling are the first proper Linux polish in a while.

Verdict: skip

Source: GitHub (NuvioMedia/NuvioDesktop)

AIOMetadata v3.8.3 is the current release; public Jikan is gone, so anime now defaults to Tenrai

AIOMetadata is on v3.8.3 (28 October 2026). Its docs now state that the public Jikan API has shut down, the addon defaults to the public Tenrai API, and self-hosting Jikan is the recommended way to get more anime metadata headroom. There is also a self-hosted LumiereDB option for IMDb search and Popular/Trending catalogs.

Why it matters: This is the one that needs your attention: your self-hosted AIOMetadata anime rows depend on an upstream that has changed, so check your anime catalogs still resolve and consider running your own Jikan or LumiereDB container.

Verdict: watch

Source: GitHub (cedya77/aiometadata)
